Carol’s Closet Paper pantry provides Glastonbury residents in need paper products such as paper towels , kleenex and toilet paper along with household products and pet food on a monthly basis. Every third Saturday of the month, St. James’ opens its doors to provide paper products, household goods and pet food to the needy. The ministry was founded ten years ago and includes other Glastonbury churches.

The St. James’ Community locally supports those in need by gathering food for several food pantries including the Glastonbury Food Bank and the Manna Food Pantry in Hartford. A group of volunteers also transports baked goods from Panera in Glastonbury to a shelter in Hartford. And, St. James’ participates in Lunch in the Park, an initiative to gather in Bushnell Park, distributing lunch and providing a worship service.

Glastonbury Social Services has started their Backpack Program for the new school year. Last year, St. James' donated 17 backpacks and $25 Target Gift Cards.

The Outreach Committee will be coordinating St. James' support of the Backpack Program. Beginning this Sunday and continuing on August 2nd and 9th, donations of new backpacks and $25 Target Gift Cards will be accepted. Please place donations of backpacks in the basket near the program poster in the Atrium.

We certainly hope everyone is enjoying their summer with family and friends. The food pantry continues to need our assistance, even when we may slow down in our summer routines. 

Please make each of your summer Sundays a "Cereal Sunday." 

The Glastonbury Food Bank is unable to obtain cereal for families except by buying in bulk, which is not practical for most households. 

White Rice, Canned fruits, and Jelly are also being requested (No Strawberry, please!) 

Glastonbury Links Together (GLT) is focused on supplying families with children with food for the summer when school is not in session. This includes snack deliveries to Camp WACY (Wells Village Council for Youth), which is a six-week program open to families in need until August 7th. From August 7th through the start of school, GLT will provide gift cards to families for food.
