This ministry is responsible for changing altar hangings based upon the church calendar, care of linens, vestments, candles, wine, and any other needs required by the presiding clergy. Each Sunday a team is responsible for preparing the sanctuary and cleaning after the service; we also prepare and clean up after weddings and funerals. Altar Guild is a quiet, contemplative and rewarding ministry as we do whatever is necessary for the efficient successful completion of our worship services.

Ministers of Communion are licensed volunteers who stand at the altar and help distribute the wine and provide other tasks for the Celebrant of the service.

The Usher is usually the first person who greets people as they enter the sanctuary. Their smile and welcome help put a newcomer at ease and indicate the kind of community we are. Ushers work to make sure everyone in the congregation is comfortable and can best enjoy the service by helping with directions to the restrooms; providing a pack of tissues, cough drop, or Band-Aid as needed; or helping find dropped items. Ushers also help by taking on small, impromptu tasks as requested by the minister or other officiants so they can focus on preparing for the service. You may not know that the ushers count the number of people who attend the service, and they pick up items left behind after the service to keep the sanctuary neat.

Each week the Sunday Worship Service is streamed live on YouTube and then available on the St. James' YouTube channel for additional viewing.
Members of the Streamer Team set up and operate the equipment for the live broadcast on YouTube.

The Flower Guild is a team who enjoy this quiet, personal ministry. Each person offers their own ideas and gifts to the job. As we move through the church seasons, the flowers highlight the altar and bring a lot of joy to our congregation. Members of the congregation are encouraged to let us know of special occasions they would like to honor.
-
Lay preachers are people in the congregation who are not ordained who preach sermons on Sundays. They have attended specific training on this powerful ministry.

The Adult choir sings each Sunday from September to June. Their musical gifts add to the worship service, and the music is planned to add meaning to the specific readings of the Sunday.
