Lunch in the Park" is a ministry that provides a bag lunch for people following Church by the Pond. Church by the Pond is a weekly outdoor service near the Bushnell Park Carousel and Pond in Hartford coordinated by Christ Church Cathedral. About 40 to 50 individuals, many of them homeless, living in shelters and others dealing with food insecurity attend the service and/or gather for lunch. We are one of many local ecumenical organizations that provide these lunches.  There are several different opportunities for you to participate. 

For Saturday, October 25 we are looking for volunteers to help: 

  - bake cookies & drop them off at St. James' either Thursday during office hours in a sealed container or Saturday morning between 11am & noon. 

  -help prepare 50 bag lunches at St. James' (we will have all the fixings) at about 11am to 1pm The bags included: 2 sandwiches, mayo & mustard, chips/bagged snack, cookies, fruit, and a bottle of water.  

  -go with as a group to Bushnell Park for the service and then distribute lunches, approximately 1:15 pm to 3:30 pm 

Watch for the sign-up sheet in the Atrium at church or call the office in October. Hope to see you on October 25th.
